Export price
export unit value, not a shop priceIn August 2026 Latvia exported 123,829 tonnes of wood pellets, at an average of €217 per tonne.
That is the export value (€26.9 million) divided by the weight exported. It is not a shop price. In the same month: wood briquettes 3,303 t, average €309/t; firewood 27,406 t, average €320/t; wood chips and particles 68,662 t, average €84/t. CSP counts firewood and chips in tonnes, so their price cannot be compared directly with a price per loose m³.

How we count
- We read sellers' price lists and classified ads every night and convert each price to € per tonne or per loose m³, with the 12% VAT a household pays.
- Firewood is priced per loose cubic metre (ber.m³ — logs tipped loosely into a cubic metre). One stacked m³ (a «sters») fills about 1.66 loose m³.
- The cost of heat is the median price divided by the fuel's energy content; boiler efficiency and delivery are not counted. The energy values and their sources are on the Latvian page.
- A median from fewer than 5 prices is marked «few prices»; such a fuel, or one sold by fewer than 3 sellers, is never named the cheapest heat.
Questions
